| A short history of Felting Many cultures have legends as to the origins of felt making. From the Sumerians to Saint Christopher's account of putting wool in his sandals to prevent blisters-and that wool turning into felted socks by journeys end, felt making has been used for centuries to sustain and improve the quality of peoples lives. From yurts to hats, it continues to be used worldwide by many cultures. What is a Felted Soap? Simply put, it's a bar of soap wrapped tightly (wet felted) with 100% alpaca fiber to create a soap/wash cloth/scrubbie-all in one. You use it just like any other bar of soap. As the soap lathers, the fiber continues to harden and shrink around the soap. Once the bar of soap is gone, you can simply make a slit in the felted casing and put in another bar of soap. It's the scrubbie that never goes away. |
