Coffee man was an amazing person, alcohol brought him down. The very first time I saw him, he had a legal pad and he was working hard on his business plan. He was working on a plan for getting himself back on his feet. He was Coffee Man because he would not accept money for nothing, but he would accept a few bucks for a favor. Usually that favor was going to 7-11 and getting the guards or janitors coffee.

When he was on his meds he was a tremendously bright, and informed guy. Overtime it became clear he had been some kind of executive, but he was unable to discipline himself reguarding either his drink or his meds. Slowly he lost his mind.

The lesson of Coffeeman is this, although many people do hit bottom and as a result of that shake off their addictions, illustions, or disease that are bringing them down. Yet it is not always so, the media, loves those who excuse us from our responsibility to our brother, by pulling themselves up from their bootstraps. Those who go splat, we here precious little about.
