Deuce of Pentacles

All Deuces speak to the choices in our lives, the deuce of pentacles includes a visual reminder of its relevance to our individual search for balance. The woman in Melanie's Deck looks happy and comfortable. The figure in the Universal Waite, is obviously focusing all his energy in keeping the disks in play. The figure in the Robin Wood deck is an unknown, because she is a Mime, and we cannot really speak to what's going on behind her mask. From a readers point of view here are a few area's you might want to think about when contemplating this card.

I also like how Melanie has balanced the card, if you will notice, the Comedy mask is on the "Winter" Side of the card where the Ice is hanging down into frame. While the tragedy mask is on the green "Spring" side of the card. Visually reminding us that our choices will have consquences and that although we all love spring, new life feeds on the death of what went before.

Activities: Is the card reminding you that perhaps you have overloaded your plate, taken on too many responsibilities, made to many promises to too many people. I was raised to be a good obedient Catholic, it took me years to work through the habit of saying Yes to a favor before someone could finish asking for one. This kept me busy, but interfered with my opportunities to enjoy my own life. On the flip side a bored Q. might need to put themselves out into the world and make themselves available to others.

Relationships: Given that we are talking about a pentacles card here we are more likely dealing with a business relationship than a romantic one. Of course anyone who has been married knows Romantic relationships will take on a business dimension if the parties remain together long enough. The card may be alerting you to opportunities, or again advising you to reconsider your position.

Divination: Agility in the face of Material Difficulties, Finding the Eye of the Storm. Balance in self and in Life, Poise and Self Control. Gaiety, Play.

Reversed: Material Difficulties, Fluctuation of Fortunes, A need to budget wisely. A moment to sit tight and await better oppertunities. An overburdened Q. Time to Pullback. Reckless Spending, Forced Gaiety.

I have found the most fascinating essay online concerning the two of Pentacles as it appears in the Daughters of the Moon deck. here
