The Star

Mel's mediations have lead her too, present us with an utterly different image of the star. A gray ethereal figure, seated in a traditional pose of mediation centers the frame. 9 dark stars surround her, each has more rays springing from it than the last. From her right hand, the viewers left, water pours down. In her left hand she holds a vine of violet flowers. The line of those flowers, is picked up by a series of butterflies of the same color. On her right hand a bright body sits in space near her right hand. A matching dark body sits near the bottom of the water flowing down from her right hand. Other planets fill the frame. A dark ringed planet sits near the top. On either side of the ringed planet, soars a hummingbird.

The whole image is lite by a central star shining from the figures bosom. Light surrounds the figure, as if the rays from the star on her bosom, shine out of her. The earth sits shining at the bottom of the card. I think its interesting, that the light of this card seems to radiate from the gray figure, and it illuminates the earth and other spheres in the card. So the card to my mind underlines the light of the soul. The figure, can be seen as either, as an Astral projection, or an Ascended Soul.

I think the star is ultimately, and more than any other card, about a persons connection with the Intent, I have come back too time and again in my postings in group. The Star is traditionally associated with the unconscious, and inspiration, which I see as an expression of the same thing. I think the arts bring us in contact with the Intent. When a poet hears his muse, when a painter contemplates a landscape, I think we see that connection to the Intent. Janine's Chapter on the Star contains the following major sections: Character, Creativity, Hearts Desire, Regeneration, Soul Life, and Spiritual Guidance. How perfect, taken as a whole, are not these the qualities that will be nourished by the connection to the Intent.

For myself, I find writing, more than anything else, can lead me into a decidedly altered state. When I sit down and begin to write a story. Before long I find I have completely lost track of time. The story flows through me, and for the life of me I could not tell you what I will find in the next paragraph, much less, on the next page. I'm not talking about channeling here. Yet, I know when I write, my consciousness is not in its normal place. The story flows from a place deep inside me, and trying to consciously direct the story and its flow, has only ever damaged the result for me. Writing these essays is more of a directed thing, still, I have had moments that touched that special energy. Those are the ones that generate emails, a few, but still there, and people ask "Where did it come from." Really I don't always quite know. At moments the act of writing causing me to bring to together points I had not before, and I have learned quite a bit, about myself and the Tarot so far in this task.

Robins Card is Equally beautiful and far more traditional. The Naked figure under 7 or is it 8 stars. Pouring water, back into the river. I think it speaks to many of the things we have already mentioned. The figure is feminine, and inherently creative. She has ascended in consciousness. Just as we, realized our nakedness when we fell, it will no long matter when we rise. Then, like the water, we can return the things of the earth to the earth. The Stars water I think is a metaphor for our material selves, returned to the earth by the ascended soul.

I have seen the stars associated with the Pleiades. Seven sisters in space, a place where in myth we came from eons ago. Both the Cherokee and the Inca believed, their true home was in the Pleiades, that their gods/ ancestors came from those 7 stars. Which brings up the 8th star. I have seen this called the sun, but the Pleiades would be washed out of the sky by the sun. The moon, on a very bright night, no the Tarot has a definite Iconography about the moon. I think it speaks to something I have run into in several books in the last two years. I think the great star in the center is the galactic center. Writers, starting from different points are converging on the Galactic center as the place where consciousness was ultimately born. At least consciousness, in our community of consciousness. One can hardly speak to other galaxy's. I know that may sound all wrong. If however you consider the point of view, that conscious energy preceded matter, and created matter to serve its own purposes. Then its not all wrong. First their was the word, (Consciousness), then the Light, and then the material world. There may be more truth in Genesis than the secular world could ever guess.

Divination:Ascension, Creativity, Hearts Desire, Regeneration, Soul Life, and Spiritual Guidance. Hope, Inspiration, Optimism. You are aligned with the Intent, and will realize your dreams.

Reversed: Disappointment, Pessimism, A feeling of being off or out of balance. Loss of Faith. Search with-in for your true self to rise above your circumstance.
