Signs of the TimesRay Grasse, author of Signs of the Times, had a truly fascinating conversation with Whitley a couple weeks back. It is currently posted in the subscriber section of Unknown country. Ray is thoughtful, soft-spoken, but quietly very sure of himself and his knowledge. A regular contributor to the Mountain Astrologer, Ray is wonderful example of the best sort of practitioner of divination. I think you'll find his vision of our future wonderful listening.

KaBOOM!!       The Eight of Wands, represents an explosive energy entering into ones life. This makes it very difficult to anticipate just how that energy will manifest itself in the world. After all, most of us just dont have much of an idea how explosive change might manifest in our lives beyond, if that lottery ticket comes up I'll ....

The last time this card came up in a reading I did for myself in which this card came up I received a small windfall in my pay. The time before that however was different: I just kept noticing my deck that night. It was sitting out on my coffee table and I just kept "seeing" the deck. Now I have 10+ decks so to have a deck just laying around anywhere is just not going to be normally noticeable. So I ultimately picked up the deck, cleared my mind, and laid out a cross spread. That night my wife became "explosively" ill, she came down with pancreatitis.

There was simply no way I could be prepared for this, but "My Guide" wanted me to know something was up. This was an important moment in my personal development as a reader. There is alot I just dont know about how the Tarot works, but I am slowly picking some things up. Previous to that night, I at least entertained a fairly mechanistic concept of how the Tarot works. It could be that the Tarot reflected the Universe, and the energies in my life or yours, in a fairly mechanistic, as above so below manner.

But things just did not work that way that night. In my mind, I cannot escape the notion, I was being prompted. Now if I was being prompted then A mechanistic explanation is an inadequate model. If I was being prompted, then there must be a guide of some description who wanted to be heard that night, a guide that had something to say that it just did not want to be ignored.

Which leads to a different explosion of a totally different quality. I suddenly had to abandon the possibility of a mechanistic Tarot. So now "I" am left with the Tarot as the means by which I communicate with some unknown guide in the energetic world. Thats a really major shift.

I have always been, carefully agnostic. I was raised in a haunted house. My mom called the haunt Oscar, and I still do. But odd things happened. One night my cousin was ascending the stairs to sleep in the attic, three times he ascended with a candle and three times it was blown out. Ok we got a draft. The fourth time he ascended with a Mag lite, at the same point on the stair, it went out. Thats one hell of a draft. He slept on the porch. And there are pages of other stories. Things did not happen everyday, but between my family, and my father after the family broke up we spent 10+ years in that house. And anomalous things happened.

That experience had the effect of leaving me certain that a simply materialistic explanation of the world just was not complete. It also left me very careful about other peoples explanations of the energetic world. Through out my teens and twenties, I favored the view of a clock maker God. Although we would all like to be special in the eyes of God, that just did not seem real in the world I perceived. Not in the working class neighborhood I was raised in, nor in the larger world the news brought into our homes. So although I have always been quite sure of the reality of the energetic world, I have been very agnostic in my attitude towards specific visions of the energetic world.

My wife on the other hand has always longed for affirmation of her belief in god and the energetic world. Longed to feel that she is truly special in the eyes of god. My Clockmaker holds no comfort for her. So I find it rather Ironic that in the last year, I have had some small things happen, that unexpectedly, point towards someone looking out for my family. A guide that is active, involved, and cares. Because I dont wish to make assumptions about it, my relationship with the Tarot, has grown very slowly. Which suits me fine. I would rather be confident about the little I know, and "Live in the Experience of the Experience" to Quote Raven Dana, than spin a story I am not confident in, about my relationship with my guide.

Creating a story around a few facts is an easy trap to fall into: take crop circles. We have a wide array of stories to pick from the are:
The work of Military Satellites,
Extraterrestrials,
The voice of Gaia,
A misunderstood natural phenomena involving plasma's,
or I just dont know.

If we honestly live in the experience of the experience, we have to admit that we don't know. Beyond I do know Satellite technology pretty well, its how I make my living, and no satellite technology available could account for crop circles. I do believe that when we do know, we will find the Crop Circles are a message from Gaia, but I understand that is my intuition, not an established fact.

All I can say for sure, is this last year has convinced me, that there is a guide available to me, if I am willing to listen.

May you grow in your relationship with your guide dear reader.
Blessed be all BB.
