I've taken a break from Hearing Mojo recently, which is good news, bad news, and then good news. Good news: I've been very busy with my "day job" running Aquarius Advisers, my corporate communications consulting firm. For the longest time I was severely hampered in doing this business because it was so hard to use the phone, work in group meetings, etc. But to my amazement I continue to move higher up the coping curve and am finding myself able to communicate and understand much more in situations where just a few months ago I was totally lost. My hearing isn't any better and in fact has gotten a little worse, but my comprehension generally continues to improve.
I am constantly amazed at the amazing plasticity of the brain and at what adaptive creatures human beings are. I will write about this in a future post. Bad news: with better understanding has come more success at business and more work, which means I haven't been able to put the time into Hearing Mojo I would have liked. Good news: I've gotten a little help this summer and carved out some time to get back to work on Hearing Mojo. I will get the email newsletter out and try to post more often on news I find interesting and important. I will also do some longer pieces when I get the time. In the meantime, keep those comments coming!

How do I a severe hard of hearing person get a person who does not want to hear what the audiologist has my hearing level at? Yes, you guess it, it is my wife who has the opposite hearing much so. I have a body pack on. The behind types did not have the power and would whistle from the ear mold and I have have a lot of wax buildup or running. I have suffered with hearing all my life practically. I am starting not to understand to return speech correctly for the subject intended.
