ORVEX Press
Miami, Florida.- Today, Friday August 18, 2017, the Organization of Venezuelans in Exile, ORVEX, sent a
letter to the President of the United States of America, Donald J. Trump, asking for the protection of a DED
for Venezuelans, along with a press release in which it affirms that the coalition TABLE OF DEMOCRATIC
UNITY (MUD) does not represent the Venezuelan opposition.
The DED is a protection only granted by the President of the United States via an Executive Order. It is
different from a TPS, which is issued by the Department of Homeland Security of the United States due to
a natural disaster of war situation, by request of the government of the affected country. A DED is granted
by the President of the United States due to a serious humanitarian crisis, war or extermination that affects
a particular country.
ORVEX has been requesting the protection of DED for Venezuelans since its foundation, on April 11, 2005,
and until now it has not been granted. The letter of ORVEX sent today to Trump presents the responses
that both, the administrations of George W. Bush as well as that of Barak H. Obama, gave to ORVEX after
it made them such important requests.
On the other hand, ORVEX attached a strong press release to the letter to Trump, in which it affirms that
the coalition TABLE OF DEMOCRATIC UNITY (MUD) does not represent the Venezuelan opposition,
presenting unquestionable arguments. In such press release, ORVEX supports and thanks the military
actions that might be carried out, from within as well as from outside Venezuela, to overthrow the tyranny of
Nicolas Maduro, an indispensable requisite for the people of Venezuela to establish a free, republican and
democratic government.
