Victor Frankenstein (Skill Point Costs: Occult Horror)

Total Character Points: 48
Total Skill Points: 80

Born into a wealthy family of ancient nobility, Baron Victor Frankenstein showed his medical and scientific genius at an early age. As he grew to adulthood, his genius likewise grew and soon he felt as if he should not be contained by such pedestrian concepts as morality or even what was viewed as scientific certainties. He eventually set his sights on the greatest secrets of all--the secret of life itself. He succeeded in creating a monster that destroyed everything around him and eventually even saw to the death of Victor Frankenstein himself.

Or so one version of the tale of Frankenstein goes. Others hold that he was to be executed for his many infractions against the laws of men and God, but that he was rescued at the last minute and continued his monstrous experiments, creating six or seven new creatures from scratch and even learning how to trap the human soul and move it from body to body. Some claim that Frankenstein had children who lived, and that they carry on his twisted, mad science, or that he lives eternally in a shell of his own creation.

Servant

Frankenstein invarabily attracts a loyal follower, as assistant who is often willing to die for him. These assistants vary in abilities--some are like-minded scientists while others are mere brutes that are good for collecting corpses. They are always built on 20 character points, and they always have at least one Defect. (Oftentimes, this defect is what leads the authorities to discover Frankenstein's activities, or ot their failure.)

Source and Acknowledgements

The character of Victor Frankenstein first appeared in the Mary Shelley novel Frankenstein, but the version presented above is based more on that found in the dozens of movies, comics, and spin-off novels that have been created by others since. If you haven't read the original novel, we recommend it highly. We have placed it in "Steve Miller's Fiction Archive" for your enjoyment, here.  Of the many movies featuring Frankenstein, we are most fond of those produced from the late Fifties to early Seventies starring Peter Cushing as Baron Frankenstein. You can read Steve's commentary on those films here. The photo on this page is a promotional still featuring Cushing as Frankenstein, for Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed.
