The young woman known as Madame Tarantula was born to a mixed-race homesteading
couple in the sun-scorched wasteland of a much-changed western America
in a distant future. Their home was raided by Indians and she was carried
off to be raised as one of the tribe. However, as she grew to adulthood,
her adoptive father decided that it was best for her to return to live
among the "other people." She found herself an outcast because of her mixed
blood, and now wanders from isolated mining town to isolated mining town,
defending those who need defending, and avenging those incapable of taking
vengance for themselves.
