Generic Aircraft

This page details a handful of aircraft for use both by the police, by the criminals, or by hapless bystanders. While police adventures are mostly earthbound, there are times where the officers may draw upon civilian or police helicopters overhead to keep track of villains they are pursuing, or where major events in the city are monitored from the air in the hopes of heading off disastrous traffic jams before they occur. And, of course, any number of bad guys may use such vehicles, ranging from smugglers hoping to evade detection to photographers buzzing the homes of celebrities in the search of exclusives.

If you want to contribute statistics to an aircraft for this page, please send your write-up to Steve Miller. Mention BESM in the message title. You will receive full credit for your contribution.

These stats represent a range of light airplanes often used by police departments to monitor open stretches of road or to aid in hot pursuits by tracking the fleeing vehicle from the air. Wealthy or adventerous civilians often use these craft as personal conveyances. They can carry three passengers and a limited amount of gear, although space for all is cramped. The drawback to the craft is that it requires open, flat terrain to take off from and land on. However, it is light-weight enough that any flat area will do, even a grassy field if it is big enough.

These mid-sized helicopters are used by police departments and news broadcasters to monitor urban traffic conditions and to follow hot pursuits from the air. They are also used by some large businesses and government offices to ferry important people from landing pads in urban centres to nearby airports, so the VIPs don't have to deal with messy traffic. The main advantages to a helicopter is its ability to take off and land vertically, and its ability to hover over the same location. The main disadvantage is that its rotor assembly is extremely vulnerable to damage.

Jet, Civilian Passenger/Cargo (19 Mecha Points)

Copyright ©2002 Steve Miller and licensors This vehicle carries well over 100 passengers, or large amounts of cargo, at faster-than-sound speeds and at altitudes of over 10,000 feet. Sometimes, they just get characters from Point A to Point B in a speedy and fairly comfortable fashion. Other times, they can be the object of much danger and adventure, as shown in the third and fourth "Geobreeders" graphic novels. This aircraft requires expansive flat areas in order to successfully take off and safely land.
