Afghanistan, 1974-1976.

I visited Afghanistan in 1974 but did not take pictures. We were there for the “mental experience”, not on a hit and run tourist trip with the only memorables, “some photographs”.

.Kabul was already overcrowded. I had the feeling the country was suffering from a population explosion, aided by readily available basic medicines since the 1950s.

The picture above shows the suburbs, close to the snow covered mountains of the Hindu Kush to the North. Below a typical scene, the Afghan dress, a dusty street, the bicycle and always smiling men.
