Tongue of the Thompson Glacier
We were camped about 6 km from the tongue of the Thompson Glacier near Expedition Fiord. The glacier comes down from a 100 km long central ice cap and carries large amounts of melt water. Crossing the glacial stream is impossible, water is to deep and too swift. We walked up once to the glacier, to touch it.
A plane landed on old wide gravel plain and will take us back to civilisation after 8 weeks. The pilots call this area the “airport”, the gravel plain being very smooth. They landed without a reconnaissance loop.
