Nevado de Toluca, Mexico.

Nevado de Toluca in the distance, with Aztek temple complex.

Nevado de Toluca, postcard.

The Nevado the Toluca volcano in central Mexico, some 100 km South of Mexico City, rises up to 4600 m from the plateau of some 2500 m, a 2000 meter altitude difference.

From a distance, the volcano doesn't look big. There is a gravel road leading to the centre of the crater at 4000 m altitude and the access road takes an hour.

This is a favourite spot for Mexican's for Sunday picnic.
