Please ask your pastor to include these prayers in your parish.

Many men and women who have experienced the death of a child or who are trying to conceive a child have said that the most painful days to get through related to going to Mass are the following:

MOTHER’S DAY
  1. For the mothers of babies who have died through ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage, stillbirth and infant death, that they know that their babies are safe and happy with Jesus. We pray to the Lord. OR For the bereaved mothers whose child has died in the womb, in infancy, as a youth or as an adult, that they feel God’s presence, love and peace on this day. We pray to the Lord.

  2. For the bereaved mothers whose child or children have died in the womb or outside of the womb and have no surviving children, may they experience recognition of their motherhood and hope in the Lord. We pray to the Lord.

  3. For the couples who are experiencing fertility challenges in trying to conceive a child, may they feel God’s peace, love and compassion. We pray to the Lord.

FATHER’S DAY
  1. For the fathers of babies who have died through ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage, stillbirth and infant death, that they know that their babies are safe and happy with Jesus. We pray to the Lord. OR For the bereaved fathers whose child has died in the womb, in infancy, as a youth or as an adult, that they feel God’s presence, love and peace on this day. We pray to the Lord.

  2. For the bereaved fathers whose child or children have died in the womb or outside of the womb and have no surviving children, may they experience recognition of their fatherhood and hope in the Lord. We pray to the Lord.

  3. For the couples who are experiencing fertility challenges in trying to conceive a child, may they feel God’s peace, love and compassion. We pray to the Lord.

CHRISTMAS
  1. For the bereaved mothers and bereaved fathers whose child has died in the womb, in infancy, as a youth or as an adult, that they feel God’s presence, love and peace on this day. We pray to the Lord. OR For the bereaved mothers and bereaved fathers and their families whose loved one has died in the womb, in infancy, as a youth or in adulthood, that in this season of celebration, they know that their pain and loss is not forgotten by Jesus, Our Lord who is God of love, peace and compassion. We pray to the Lord.

  2. For the couples who are experiencing fertility challenges in trying to conceive a child, that in their sadness they turn to Jesus the Comforter, Jesus the Giver of Peace. We pray to the Lord.

FEAST OF THE HOLY FAMILY
  1. For the bereaved mothers and bereaved fathers and their families whose loved one has died in the womb, in infancy, in youth or in adulthood, that they may feel the gentle caring and love of the Holy Family: our Lord Jesus Christ, Mary and Joseph. We pray to the Lord.

  2. For the couples who are experiencing fertility challenges in trying to conceive a child, that they know that we are all connected in God’s family, that we all share the same Father and are related to one another in His universal design. We pray to the Lord. (Note for clergy: This last prayer was contributed by Penny Perrone, a woman who was unable to conceive a child. Used with her kind permission.)
